About CMB Club
Welcome! We are happy to have your interest as a potential new member to Culpeper Model Barnstormers (CMB) club. The CMB membership year is from January 1 through December 31. CMB initiation and membership dues are used to finance the cost of maintaining the flying site, to buy prizes awarded at club events, and for other Board approved expenses.
CMB members are required to maintain active membership in the ACADEMY OF MODEL AERONAUTICS (AMA). AMA applications are available through CMB club officers, at hobby shops, and in the AMA magazine MODEL AVIATION. AMA provides national level model representation for international model competitions, national competitions each year, representation for radio frequency allocations from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and most importantly, THE LIABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM for clubs and fliers.
CMB Club Meetings
A written notice stating the place, day, and hour of any annual and/or special meeting of members will be delivered, either personally, by mail, or by e-mail to each member no less than ten (10) nor more than sixty (60) days prior to such meeting.
Flight Training at CMB
Qualified Culpeper Model Barnstormers club instructors provide training at no charge for beginners and for those wishing to achieve more advanced skills. Please check out the "Learning to Fly at CMB" item under "Membership Info".
Are you just curious? Please feel free to stop by Culpeper County Lenn Park's Lenn Model Airpark when someone is flying and ask questions, we are always happy to help. As Yogi Berra might have said: We all started at the beginning.
If you are thinking of starting in RC flying, please avoid buying that sleek looking or fancy scale plane that may not be suitable or safe for the new flyer. Too many people have taken that first expensive airplane to the closest open field or ball park and totaled it in the first few seconds and quickly ended their RC experience. Above all, we want you to be safe, successful, and enjoy your RC model flying experience.
How Do I Join?
CMB Club membership is available by mail as listed at the bottom of the Membership Application Form. Complete and print out the Membership Application Form and mail it to the address shown. Don't forget the appropriate fees and remember that proof of current membership in the AMA is required.
